I feel honored every time I get the chance to photograph families. It’s such a special moment when we’re in the presence of a new life. I’m able to capture the best images when moms and dads can just be themselves for that moment.

My name is Sol, I’m from Argentina and I moved to San Francisco, California a few years ago. I’ve been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I used to spend hours looking through old family albums and later on I got my hands on my dad's old camera, a Yashica. Since then I haven’t stopped taking pictures and it’s one of the things that bring me the most joy in life.
The type of photography that I love is documentary. I like to capture real moments in life. People in their favorite places, doing what they love, spending time with their loved ones. I believe that photographs allow us to keep moments alive.
I'm currently doing a Low Residency Photography Program with the International Center of Photography. To see more pictures, follow my Instagram account @soledadcherne.
Can we do the session in my home?
Yes! I love in-home sessions, particularly if your home has lots of windows to let in the natural light. It's so much fun to capture your everyday life in the place you spend most of your time, and it will bring so much joy in later years, as you look back on the memories we've captured.
What do we do if the forecast predicts rain and we've planned an outdoor session?
I allow weather-related rescheduling up to 2 days before the session. We can either reschedule, or we can find a covered place with lots of windows for our session. (I love doing sessions in your home, too!)
Do I have to pay extra to own the digital files from my session?
Absolutely not. All of my session rates include an online gallery with all the high-resolution, fully-edited images, so that you can own them forever and print them as many times as you'd like.
Will you edit the photos from my session?
Yes. However, while creating beautiful images for you, I also like to preserve the natural beauty of your photographs, so I don't use heavy photoshop on any of my photos. I will give you a selection of colour and black & white photos when I deliver your files.
How long will it take to receive my images?
I will always send you your images in an online gallery within 2 weeks of the session - guaranteed!
I just had a baby. Will you come to my home for newborn photos?
Absolutely! I actually strongly recommend doing newborn photos in your own home, since that seems to be the place where both you and baby feel most comfortable.
Speaking of newborn photos - do you use props?
I am a lifestyle photographer, which means that I don't use props for my newborn photography. I'm all for getting beautiful photos of your baby, but I personally believe that the photos you'll most treasure of your child are the natural photos of you together at home, them sleeping in their crib, you kissing their toes and smiling at them, and the way their hand wraps around your finger.
Thanks for stopping by! I specialize in maternity, newborn, families, engagement and portraits, serving San Francisco and the Bay Area. If you would like to get in touch, send me a message below. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sol photographed me and my daughter shortly after she was born. I had given birth 6 weeks early and regretted not getting pregnancy photos. I really wanted to capture this special moment in time: the beauty of first motherhood and the bond between me and my little girl. So the photoshoot with Sol was especially important to me, and the result could not have been better. Sol came to my home with all equipment prepared and was quick and efficient, which as you can imagine is important when dealing with a sleepy and somewhat temperamental 3-month-old. :-) Yet in the short time she was here, she took a ton of shots with a lot of variety. I think the best photographers are the ones who leave you with more gorgeous photos than you can frame and that's certainly the case with Sol. So many poignant shots! I will definitely be asking Sol to photograph our family again when my daughter is older.
We had a maternity and family session with Sol last week and it was such a great experience! I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family. She was very professional and extremely friendly with my 2yr old. My daughter loved her as well ☺
Sol recently took newborn photos of my 2 week old daughter and they turned out beautifully. Sol was very professional and patient with us as we needed several breaks to soothe a fussy baby! She has a great eye and made our apartment look light-filled and gorgeous in the pictures, not to mention somehow making us look good despite being severely sleep deprived! I hope to have Sol take pictures of our family again in the future.
Sol was incredibly patient and very good with us and our baby! She waited for us through two feeding sessions in order to make sure we were able to get good photos. Our pictures were natural and beautiful thanks to her!
Sol made us feel very comfortable, it was a really nice experience. She was lovely with our babies and she was very understanding and patient to get the shots. The photos are great really natural, soft and lovely composition. We highly recommend her to capture those great shots.
Sol was wonderful to work with! She came to our house when our daughter was two weeks old, and was very patient with all the scheduling uncertainty and pauses for nursing/soothing/diapering inherent to working with a newborn. The photoshoot was very relaxed and the photos look great!
